About Dave

David Poissant - B-25 History Project Historian: At retirement from more than 40 years in the Heating and Air Conditioning industry in 2008, he was Director, National Accounts with a large international HVAC equipment manufacturer. His interest in Mitchells grew from his Dad's WWII service as an RCAF pilot attached to 98 Squadron RAF, where he flew North American Aviation B-25C/D/J Mitchells on operations over France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. 98 Squadron was part of 139 Wing, 2 Group, 2nd Tactical Air Force which, along with 5 other USAAF and RAF air forces, formed the Allied Expeditionary Air Force in cooperation and support of their respective Armies in NW Europe.

He chairs the 2nd Tactical Air Force Medium Bombers Association (2TAF MBA) Canada and edits the quarterly newsmagazine, 'Dispersals', which is distributed to members and contributors; digital copies are hosted on the website of the Brussels Air Museum Fund. The original members were A-20, B-25 and Mosquito air and ground crew veterans. He has researched 2TAF and Mitchells for over 20 years and has a growing association with a number of like-minded researchers in Europe and the United States. A huge education for him was transcribing the 98 Squadron RAF WWII Operations Records Books into Excel format to facilitate more efficient research.

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum (and it's B-25J) is just 20 minutes from his home. He has been a member and volunteer Tour Guide there for over 20 years, 3 of which were spent as a crewmember on the CWH Lancaster, one of just 2 flying examples in the world. Thanks to his well-known love of B-25s, when he was asked to join the Lanc crew the request was prefaced with "It's not a Mitchell, but..." He enjoys occasional speaking engagements, usually lecturing on Second Tactical Air Force operations.

The opportunity to become part of the B-25 History Project is a very welcome one to him. He has long been proud of the formidable part played by Mitchell aircraft and their builders, crews and support personnel in protecting the values and freedoms we all now enjoy and often take for granted. He looks forward to contributing to their history ensuring they will never be forgotten.
