About Steve
Steve Whitby - B-25 History Project Historian: Steve's Grandfather Marshall Whitby worked for North American Aviation in the early days, starting prior to B-25 construction. He helped build some of the first B-25s to come off the line. Those early B-25s (through the B models) would become the focus of Steve’s interest in B-25s. Researching early B-25 history is no simple task. This history also includes one of the most well-known B-25 attacks. The US attack on mainland Japan by 80 great men known as the Doolittle Raid.
There is one B-25B remaining. Steve hopes to someday raise enough money to restore that B-25 to honor the 80 great men that risked their lives on the Doolittle Raid. Both he and I have had the honor of knowing several of those men. Preserving not just their story, but the greater story of the B-25 and the men and women who built, flew, and maintain them remains our focus.
