History
B-25J-15-NC 44-28875 was delivered on July 28, 1944. Her first assignment was use in utility and administrative roles including command transport service and proficiency flying. She served at the Eighth Air Force Headquarters at Carswell AFB, Texas beginning in 1947. Here she was used for staff proficiency flying as well as flying support missions for that command. She passed through the Hayes Conversion at Mobile, Alabama in 1953. Used for proficiency and utility flying she was never exposed to the rigors and hours of twin engine flying with new pilots in the Training Command as was the case with many of the other B-25s during this time. After her tour of duty with the Air Force ended in 1958, the Commanding Officer at Dyess AFB requested the aircraft be donated for display in San Angelo, Texas. She was designated for donation and was placed on display in San Angelo, Texas in l959. Local volunteers and CAF members performed periodic maintenance on her to keep her in good condition. She was assigned to the Air Force Museum Program and now falls under their control. In the spring of 1993 she was moved to Goodfellow AFB, Texas where she was placed on display at the base entrance where she remains today.
