History

The B-25J-25 SN 44-30210 was delivered on December 23, 1944. During WW II she was stationed at Greenville AAF South Carolina assigned to pilot and crew training. Assigned to both the 330th Base Unit and the 128th Base Unit she flew regularly over the next 12 months as part of the training program at Greenville. She served her entire active US military time at Greenville. At the end of hostilities in 1945 she was flown to South Plains Field, Texas and placed into open storage. B-25s served in the FAB during and after WW II and most were initially used in the bomber role for maritime patrol duties off the Brazilian coast. As the years passed many of the FAB B-25s were retired or used in training programs for the FAB. Assigned serial number 5133, she was in active use with the FAB from l948 until the early l960s. Although she was not on active flying status after l962 she was assigned for a number of years to maintenance programs as and instructional aircraft.

She was retired from all active military use and displayed at the Brazilian Air Force Academy in Pirassunagua from l967 until the late l980s. In l987 she was moved to the FAB Air Station at Belem in northeastern Brazil where she was placed on displayed with a B-17, a PBY and several other types of aircraft that had been used by the FAB. During the years the FAB used B-25s Belem had been one of the major bases for B-25 activity. Although on outside display and exposed to the tropical climates she still appears in good condition due to periodic maintenance by FAB personnel.
