B-25J-30-NC SN 44-31508 "Lucky Lady"

History

The B-25J-30-NC SN 44-31508 under restoration as "Lucky Lady" was delivered in June of 1945. She was assigned to Westchester Air Force Base until August of 1958 when she was moved to Olmsted Air Force Base in Pennsylvania. She was sold to Stinson Field Aircraft in January of 1960 and her civil registration was assigned as N6578D. William P. Strube of Marietta, Pennsylvania immediately purchased her and sold her in May of that same year to Southbridge Corp. of Silver Springs, Maryland. She was transferred back to Strube in May of 1961 and sold again in October of 1961 to Trans-Calypso Inc., of Mami, Florida by Southbridge Corp. She was sold again May of 1965 to Leon H. Patin of Miami, Florida. In September of 1967, she was sold to Euramericair, Inc., of Hollywood, Florida. In November of 1967, she was modified for use for the filming of the movie "Battle of Britain". She was flown to the United Kingdom for filming and returned in late 1969. By early 1970, she was derelict at the Caldwell, New Jersey Airport. For the next several years, she was locked up in a legal battle until March of 1975 when she was sold to Ten Plus One, Inc. They sold her in October of 1977 to Tom Reilly of Orlando, Florida. She was restored and flown as "Chapter XI". Tom sold her in February of 1979 to B-25th Bomber Group, Inc., of Pompano Beach, Florida. They sold her in August of 1994 to Dan Powell of Boerne, Texas and flown as "Lucky Lady". She was sold on June 16, 1999 to Rio Grande Aviation, of McAllen, Texas. They sold her in late 2014 to a group restoring a B-25 in South America. In April of 2015, she was purchased by Reevers Warbird Roundup. She is currently in Australia under restoration.
