North American Aviation Service Pins
North American Aviation valued their employees. As a token of their gratitude, each employee was given service pins based on the length of service to the company. Service pins were given at; 3 months, 1 year, 3 years, 5 years then every 5 years after that. Each successive service pin was a little nicer than the previous. The service pins shown here are all from employees of the Fairfax plant during the war.
3 Month Service "Emblem"

The 3 month service emblem was given to employees after they had completed 3 months of service to North American. This service emblem from the Fairfax plant is made of bronze and is in the shape of the North American Aviation, Kansas logo. As described in the North American Employee's handbook: "The emblem of North American Aviation, Inc., will be given to each employee after he has completed three months' service with the company. This pin is to be worn where and when the employee desires, and become the permanent property of the employee."

1 Year Service Award

As the name implies, the 1 year service award was given to North American employees after they had completed 1 year of service to North American Aviation. This award was made of sterling silver with blue enamel and is in the shape of the North American Corporate logo.

3 Year Service Award

The 3 year service award is the highest award that could have been given to an employee that started working for North American Aviation, Kansas for years of service as the plant was not in operation long enough. Employees that transferred to the Kansas plant from the California plant when the plant could have received a higher award. The 3 year service award is plated in gold and again enameled in blue. Again designed in the shape of the North American Corporate logo, this award is raised higher as well as slightly larger than the 1 year service pin.
