History

The B-25D-25-NC SN 42-87261 was delivered on August 23, 1943. Her first test flight lasting 40 minutes was on August 13, 1943 with test pilot James Malone. She was transferred to the Royal Air Force arriving on June 16, 1944. Her initial assignment was with RAF 320 squadron. She operated from Dunsfold with markings of No-N and No-M. She was damaged on June 14, 1945 and transferred to Naval Air Station Valkenburg on March 6, 1947. While at Valkenburg, she flew as A-22. She was out of service by mid-1954. Her next transfer was to the Technical University in Delft. While here, the cockpit section was used as a flight simulator. In 1981, the cockpit was moved to the Aviodrome. The cockpit section remained there while other parts of the B-25 were moved to the Duke of Brabant Air Force (DBAF). One nacelle, the tail cone, and the nose gear remain there on display.
