In April of 1958, she was purchased and converted by the new owner Les Bowman into a borate tanker. Although details of the tanker history are scarce it is known that she flew as Tanker E81 with Paul Mantz and as Tanker C81 for Sonora Flying Service in 1959 and early 1960. In l962 she was converted to an aerial sprayer since the US Forest Service was no longer using B-25s for fighting fires. All B-25s were withdrawn from tanker fire duties by 1962. Again little history is known of her time as an aerial sprayer. Between 1964 and 1970 she passed through several owners. In 1970, she was obtained by Ralph Ponte of Chico, California. She sat idle with Mr. Ponte until 1978. She was originally intended for restoration back to flying status but was eventually traded to the Air Force Museum Program in 1979. She was refurbished for display made ready for a ferry flight and flown to Beale AFB, California and became part of the base museum until Beale AFB base closed in 1995. After 16 years on display at Beale AFB she was moved to Hulbert Field, Florida. She was placed on display at Hulbert and put in the markings of the 1st Air Commando Group that served in the China Burma India theater in WW II.
