B-25J-30-NC SN 44-86797 "Old Grey Mare"
History
The B-25J-30-NC SN 44-86747 now known as "Old Grey Mare" was delivered on July 6, 1945. Her initial assignment was to Yuma, Arizona. In January of 1945, she was transferred to Mather Field, California. She was flown to storage in October of 1957. George Race of Dallas, Texas purchased her on my 6, 1949. Her registration was assigned as N3438G. She was sold in July of 1959 to William Wisner of Dallas Texas. He sold her in December of 1963 to Web Thomas Aircraft Sales of Addison, Texas. In April of 1965, she was sold to Robert Hobart of Gulfport, Mississippi. Carl Gibbons purchased her in August of 1966. In May of 1967, she was sold back to Web Thomas Aircraft Sales. They sold her in May of 1967 to Glenn H. Ransom of Brentwood, California. He sold her in March of 1973 to Milton Welser of Stockton, California. By July of 1978, she was sold to Richard Skadsheim of Modesto, California. By August of 1983, she was sold to Aero Trader. After restoration, she was sold to Wiley Sanders Truck Lines in Troy Alabama. She first flew as "Samantha", then later as "Old Grey Mare". On June 7, 2004, she was purchased by Hans Lauridsen of Glendale, Arizona. She currently resides at the Lauridsen Aviation Museum.
